CBSE’S GRADING SYSTEM

1. All students have been awarded grades, not marks
2. The practice of declaring Compartment/Fail has been discontinued
3. The result of candidates is now declared in two categories: Eligible for qualifying certificate (QUAL) and Eligible for improvement of performance (EIOP)
4. All candidates, even if they have failed in all subjects will now have five chances to improve their performance without having to repeat a year.

THE NEW ORDER
With Board exams being made optional from the academic year 2010-11, a new system of evaluation – Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) – based on grades has been approved. It comprises formative and summative assessment of the student to be done over two terms – first and second -during the year-long academic calendar.
Summative Assessment: Based on the term-end examination
1) There will be two evaluations each in the first and second terms.
2) Each evaluation will carry 10 marks apiece.

Formative Assessment: To evaluate and grade class work, homework, assignment and project work
1) There will be one term-end exam for each term.
2) The first term-end exam will carry 20 marks.
3) The second term-end exam will carry 40 marks.

EVALUATION

Students of class IX and X will be evaluated on a 9-point grading system. Each grade, given on the basis of both formative and summative assessments, will correspond to a range of marks as indicated below :
MARKS-------RANGE--------GRADE-------GRADE POINT
91-100--------A1-----------10.0
81 -90--------A2-----------9.0
71 -80--------B1-----------8.0
61-70---------B2-----------7.0
51 -60--------C1-----------6.0
41 -50--------C2-----------5.0
33-40---------D------------4.0
21-32---------E1
00-20---------E2

Points to Remeber :
(i) Assessment of theory/practical papers in external subjects shall be in numerical scores. In addition to numerical scores, the Board shall indicate grades in the marks sheets issued to the candidates in case of subjects of external examinations. In case of internal assessment subjects, only grades shall be shown.

(ii) Subjects of internal examination in Class X the assessment shall be made on a five point scale I.e. A,B,C,D & E.

(iii) The grades shall be derived from scores in case of subjects of external examination. In case of subjects of internal assessment, they shall be awarded by the schools.

(iv) The qualifying marks in each subject of external examination shall be 33% . However at Senior School Certificate Examination,in a subject involving practical work, a candidate must obtain 33% marks in the theory and 33% marks in the practical separately in addition to 33% marks in aggregate, in order to qualify in that subject.

Important :
(a) In case of a tie, all the students getting the same score, will get the same grade. If the number of students at a score point need to be divided into two segments, the smaller segment will go with the larger.

(b) Method of grading will be used in subjects where the number of candidates who have passed is more than 500.

(c) In respect of subjects where total number of candidates passing in a subject is less than 500, the grading would be adopted on the pattern of grading and distribution in other similar subjects.

CAREER IN INTERIOR DESIGNING

Interior designers do space planning, taking into account aesthetics and inspect work on-site, using specialised knowledge of interior construction, building systems and components, building regulations, equipment, materials and furnishings and prepare drawings and documents relative to the design of interior space. They are responsible for the interiors of buildings (whereas an architect is responsible for its shell). Interior designers must be able to read blueprints, understand building and fire regulations and know how to make space accessible to people who are disabled.
SUITABILITY
You should possess a natural aptitude for art as well as an eye for colour and a feel for fabric. You would need considerable technical and product knowledge and technical drawing skills, either on paper or with computer aided design (CAD). Designers need to be well-read, open to new ideas and influences and quick to respond to changing trends. Problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and under pressure are additional important traits. Good business sense and sales ability are also important, especially if you freelance or run your own business. You need to be able to work closely with other people.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING
Diploma courses (for a duration of two or three years) in interior design or interior design and decoration are offered after class 10 at polytechnics and vocational training schools. A few universities offer three-year/four year bachelor degree programmes to students completing class 12/equivalent. Sometimes a Bachelor of Fine Arts may offer the option of
specialisation in interior decoration.
ADMISSION PROCESS
In most cases, you would need to qualify an aptitude test before getting admission that would assess your imagination, lateral thinking, exposure to basic design and interiors, sensitivity to colour, 3D form, visual order, craft skills, visual perception and logic.

I thought a thought.But the thought I thought wasn?t the thought
I thought I thought. If the thought I thought I thought had been
the thought I thought, I wouldn?t have thought so much.

Dare to read it .. I bet you will mistake !

Esau Wood sawed wood. Esau Wood would saw wood. All the wood Esau Wood saw, Esau Wood would saw. In other words, all the wood Esau saw to saw, Esau sought to saw. Oh, the wood Wood would saw! And, oh the wood-saw with which Wood would saw wood! But one day, Wood?s wood-saw would saw no wood, and thus the wood Wood sawed was not the wood Wood would saw if Wood?s wood-saw would saw wood. Now, Wood would saw wood with a wood-saw that would saw wood, so Esau sought a saw that would saw wood. One day, Esau saw a saw saw wood as no other wood-saw Wood saw would saw wood. In fact, of allthe wood-saws Wood ever saw saw wood, Wood never saw a wood-saw that would saw wood as the wood-saw Wood saw saw wood would saw wood, and I never saw a wood-saw that would saw as the wood-saw Wood saw would saw until I saw Esau Wood saw wood with the wood-saw Wood saw saw wood. Now Wood saws wood with the wood-saw Wood saw saw wood.

Use of Summer Vacation

School may be out for the summer, but it doesn’t mean the work has ended for teachers. Summer vacation provides many opportunities for teachers to improve their skills and to have new experiences to bring into their classrooms when fall classes begin again.
There are several tips for educators to improve their teaching with some strategic use of summer vacation.

Take workshops and college courses
One of the most valuable investments of time that an educator can do is take classes and workshops in the summer. There are many opportunities that are organized with teachers in mind. A great area to invest time and energy is in technology classes. This is a place where skills must constantly be updated. There are many quality workshops involving topics in education, teaching methods, and even regarding specific subject matters. Keep in mind that it won't mean totally remodeling one's teaching philosophies, but rather consider it as a recipe book. If one good recipe or educational idea is taken from the workshop, it is a success.

Read one new resource or book
Choose one book that has resources or lessons that would apply to the classroom. It is far better to set the goal of reading and understanding one book or resource, than bringing home a stack and feeling overwhelmed by the amount that needs to be covered. By setting the goal at one resource or book, it is manageable and the teacher can apply those skills to the classroom.

Go online
There are many websites that provide quality lesson plan ideas as well as activities and resources. The problem is that during the school year it is difficult to find the time to read and go through those lessons. Summer vacation is a prime time to explore the Internet and to print lessons and resources. Going to sites such as Promethean Planet or Thinkfinity and downloading
